What is X-ray?
X-rays are a type of electromagnetic radiation, just like visible light. An x-ray is a type of electromagnetic radiation. It is used to create images of the inside of objects, such as the human body. X-rays are produced by machines called x-ray generators. They are used in medicine, dentistry, and industry. X-rays can be harmful to human health, so they must be used carefully.

However, X-rays have higher energies than visible light. An X-ray is made up of X-ray photons (which are the particles that carry the energy) and X-ray wavelengths (the length of the X-ray). X-ray photons travel at a speed of about 186,000 miles per second.
An x-ray machine sends individual x-ray particles through the body. The images are recorded on a computer or film.
✅ Dense structures (such as bone) will block most x-ray particles and appear white.
✅ Metal and contrast media (special dye used to highlight areas of the body) will also appear white.
✅ Structures containing air will be blank, and muscle, fat, and fluid will appear shades of gray.
How the Test is Performed
It would be best if you stayed still while having an x-ray. The body motion can cause blurry images. When the image is taken, you may be asked to hold your breath or not move for a second or two.
